Over dit project
The FERMENTO installation was created to bring visitors and customers of the 47AnnoDomini Wineyard closer to the transformation of the grapes into wine, where the process is invisible because it takes place inside the cisterns (behind their surfaces). We therefore intended to “take out” this process, through a visualization of the vibrations produced by fermentation, and at the same time participate in the experience of fermentation through listening to its characteristic sounds.
Wine is a living element that undergoes a great transformation during the fermentation process: this transformation is detected by microphones immersed in the cisterns, or arranged in contact with them. Audio recordings thus become the material on which to construct a sound composition, which is then digitally processed and translated into visual impulses. The resulting video is then projected onto the surfaces of the same, faceted and metallic cisterns.
The process of creation of the work, led by Current, featured the sound artist Nicola di Croce and the entrepreneurial team, helped by the algorithm specially created by Claudio Bellini.
Nicola di Croce focuses on the relationship between the sound environment and the territory. This relationship explores the processes of urban regeneration, participatory art and the multiple trajectories of local development that can be activated through the maturation of awareness to listening. The environmental recording (field recording) is at the center of his artistic practice, which proceeds towards a redefinition of the perception of the landscape, where the sound language becomes a narrative device, therefore an intimately design tool.
